After years of dreaming about a quieter, more meaningful life, we made the decision to move our family to a peaceful corner of the world: Bagni di Lucca, a charming town nestled in the hills of Tuscany, Italy.
I’m Slovenian and my husband is from Chile. We’ve built our life together step by step, and along the way started a beautiful family. We have three wonderful children: Isabel, our bright and sensitive 6-year-old daughter, and our twin boys — Shai and Noam — who are now 3 years old: adventurous, energetic, and always on the move..
Why We Chose Bagni di Lucca
We were looking for a place that offered safety, nature, and a slower pace of life — somewhere we could raise our children and start a new chapter. Being a European citizen gave us the freedom to explore many possibilities, but we were especially drawn to Italy: its warmth, its culture, and its sense of community.
While searching, we also hoped to find a small hotel or guesthouse — something we could run as a family business, a place filled with life, connection, and purpose.
That’s when we discovered a beautiful little hotel in Bagni di Lucca. It felt just right. Nestled in a peaceful village surrounded by rivers, mountains, and forests, the property also had a cozy apartment on the top floor where we could live as a family.
My husband traveled to see it while I stayed with the kids, and he immediately fell in love — with the landscape, the calm, the people. By chance, he even met a fellow Chilean who lives nearby — an architect who told him the hotel had real potential.
And just like that, we knew: this was home.

We’re just a short drive from Lucca, Pisa, and even Florence — but here, time flows differently. You can hear the river just outside your window. Sip espresso on a quiet terrace. And if you have children, they’ll quickly find new friends in ours.
